Eel

A masterpiece of scratched image and sound. Scratch films are immediately intriguing, but quickly fall into cloying cuteness unless they are tightly organized. They are the hardest films to make. EEL is loved by avant-garde musicians. I was too unnerved to enjoy my 1976 show at Anthology until I saw/heard this work in their earth-wrestling theater. –D. L.
